Review highlights

Based on 267 reviews

Wooden Spoke Restaurant is widely appreciated for its warm, family-owned atmosphere and scratch-made American comfort food, particularly noted for standout dishes like prime rib and chicken fried chicken. Patrons frequently commend the friendly and attentive service, as well as the inviting, charming interior that enhances the dining experience. However, some feedback points to occasional inconsistencies in food quality and seasoning, such as overly salty fries or less flavorful sandwiches, along with slower service likely due to a small kitchen team. Overall, Wooden Spoke is valued as a cozy, locally cherished spot that delivers hearty meals and a genuine, welcoming environment, making it a favored destination for both first-timers and returning guests.

What a cute family owned restaurant. Everything is made from scratch and tastes delicious! The service was excellent. All of our entrees were served hot, as well as plated in a pleasing-to-the-eye manner. This was my first visit but not my last. (Chicken Fried Chicken)

Best Prime rib I’ve ever had. And I’ve had prime rib around the country. Good lord this one touched my soul. And it’s only an hour from home. We came. We saw. We meant business.

As a transplant to the KC metro, I had been missing the feel of my home town local comfort food restaurant and this place definitely far exceeded what I was expecting. The staff were so kind and friendly and while we were visiting for the first time, they treated us just as if we were regulars. You could really feel the love the staff have for each other and the establishment by how they didn't skip a beat or slow down to playfully interact with each other while still working. Parking was fairly full and even then we got greeted and our drinks and appetizers right away (10/10 recommend the mozzarella sticks solely for that long cheese pull). We got a few breaded apps and they were crispy and evenly hot so you could tell they weren't just pulled out of the freezer and popped in the microwave. The fries are my perfect cooked fry - crunchy outside but still soft potato inside. For their entrees, 100% recommend the prime rib, if I was to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life it would be this. It was a perfect balance of tenderness, juice, and flavor - the seasoning on its own is all I'll be thinking about for a while. While I didn't get a dessert, the bread pudding looked amazing.

What can I say except, WOW! From the moment we walked in I was impressed with this family-run restaurant! If you didn't have an appetite before, you certainly will when you open the door and smell all that good food cooking! The inside is currently decorated for Christmas and they've done an amazing job, it is SO CUTE!!! The waitress we had was so sweet and friendly, we had our drinks and appetizers super fast too! Mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, french fries, prime rib, chili, and bread pudding, all perfect! I'd eat that chili all week long if I could! I'm from KC and I can honestly say, this was worth the drive 100%. Definitely coming back soon!!! Also, food was cooked to perfection, my prime rib was exactly what I wanted.

First time there. Small town restaurant in a converted gas station. Fries were too salty. Pork tenderloin sandwich meat was paper thin, fish sandwich was lacking any flavor. One waitress did her best but overall service was pretty slow and am guessing a small kitchen staff. They charge for credit cards.

Went there for dinner after a soccer game and both the food and service were great. Very clean too. Would definately go back.

When I walked in I was expecting typical Small Town Diner food. When I saw the menu prices I was thinking wow this is going to be something amazing like you would find in the city. Let's just say I was disappointed. I would have paid what they were asking had the food been some amazing food but it was very underwhelming. It was typical diner food with City food prices I ordered the chicken fried steak and was a menu price of nearly 17 bucks I thought wow this is going to be amazing but not LOL it was something straight from the freezer probably ordered from Cisco and dropped in a fryer. Too much garlic in the mashed potatoes. It was all edible but very underwhelming for the prices charged
